A light-heavyweight bout between Krzysztof Soszynski (26-11-1 MMA, 6-2 UFC) and Igor Pokrajac (23-8 MMA, 2-3 UFC) is set for December's UFC 140 event.
UFC officials today announced the bout between well-rounded 205-pounders.
UFC 140 takes place Dec. 10 at Air Canada Centre in Toronto with a heavyweight headliner between Frank Mir and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira.
The night's main card airs live on pay-per-view, though it's not clear if Pokrajac vs. Soszynski will be part of the broadcast.
Soszynski and Pokrajac initially were slated to fight at UFC 131 when Pokrajac was tapped as a replacement for injured Anthony Perosh. However, Pokrajac also suffered an injury and was replaced by Mike Massenzio.
Soszynski won that fight via unanimous decision to score his third win in four fights, which included victories over Stephan Bonnar (via controversial TKO) and Goran Reljic (decision). However, as the Canadian recently told MMAjunkie.com (
www.mmajunkie.com), he underwent his seventh career knee surgery after the Massenzio win and has been recovering ever since.
He now meets Pokrajac, who scored a first-round TKO of Todd Brown at UFC on Versus 3 back in March. The Croatian fighter now has won two of three fights since he started his UFC career with back-to-back losses to Vladimir Matyushenko and James Te Huna.
The latest UFC 140 card now includes:
Frank Mir vs. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira
Antonio Rogerio Nogueira vs. Tito Ortiz
Brian Ebersole vs. Rory MacDonald
Mark Hominick vs. Chan Sung Jung
Mark Bocek vs. Nik Lentz
Igor Pokrajac vs. Krzysztof Soszynski
Rich Attonito vs. Claude Patrick
Dennis Hallman vs. John Makdessi
John Cholish vs. Mitch Clarke
