Well I've decided to make a training log so I can share my adventures with you guys. I've done MMA for about 3-4 months but I've decided to take a break and try my hand at boxing. I personally love boxing and MMA as well as most combat sports. The gym I'm joining is led under a trainer/owner who train under Don Khan in Tampa, FL who produced two world champions, Alexis Arguello, and Wilfred Benitez. | http://www.boxrec.com/media/index.php/Alexis_Arguello | http://www.boxrec.com/media/index.php/Wilfred_Benitez | I have started training at home with my heavy bag, double end bag, and speed bag to get into shape and work on technique before I join. I've also been doing weightlifting, running, jump roping, calisthenics, and plyometrics. I honestly want to become very good at boxing and I hope my ambition and passion can overcome my sometimes laziness and doubt which I'm sure will haunt me at times. That being said I'm aiming for a two-a-day boxing session today, weightlifting, and running. I'm 5'7" and 160lbs. My Breakfast: 4+ Cups of Water 1+ 23g Protein Shake 8oz of Fruit Punch (Carbohydrates) 1 Peanut Butter Sandwich 1x Opti-Men Multi-Vitamin 3x Fish Oil Capsules (300mg EFA Each) Training Schedule for 1st Session: 1 Round - Stretching 1 Round - Jump roping 2 Rounds - Shadow boxing 5 Rounds - Heavy Bag 3 Rounds - Speed bag 2 Rounds - Double-end Bag 2 Rounds - Jump Roping End with Calisthenics 3x10 Frazier Sit-Ups (Up, halfway down and hold for 10 seconds) 2x Frazier Cross Sit-Ups (Same except one knee down and opposite elbow to knee) 45 Second Rests between each set 25 Push Ups 10 Dips 25 Push Ups 10 Dips 25 Push Ups 10 Dips 25 Push Ups 10 Dips 45 Seconds Rest Between Each Set Post Work-Out: 8oz of Fruit Punch Water 1 Peanut Butter Sandwich 1 23g Protein Shake After this will be weightlifting, will post later. Done with the first session (first logged session anyway). Good work, got enough sweat outta of it. Those push ups were HARDDD at the end, really tiring. Last set I could barely push myself up. Still breaking in my new Rival Elite Bag Gloves, much less padding then my Title Gel World Bag Gloves but you get a better feel for the bag and it gives you a greater incentive to punch correctly with the first two knuckles so you don't hurt your thumb or hand. I don't think I will be able to hit the bags again this evening since I'll be lifting and running later on ![]() Hopefully I can hit the gym today as I haven't gone in a while. Doing some 5x5 powerlifting things to build strength, strength over mass always ![]() ![]() "Everybody has a plan until they get hit." - Mike Tyson |

Unfortunately I could not go weight lift today as I had no ride to get to the gym. I may lift tomorrow however so hopefully it'll be fine. I ran with the cross country team for about 20-25mins nonstop, we usually run 30mins-45mins non stop but today we ran at a much faster pace. I also decided to try HIIT, High Intensity Interval Training, which is a very intense cardio workout that is supposedly GREAT for cardio and fat loss. The beginner workout goes 30 seconds hard as you can sprint, 90 seconds rest and you do this for 6-8 times. We ran 20 seconds all out and after the previous run we decided to stop because it was too tiring haha. It really does seem like it will whip you into shape though, its probably best used prior to any exercise because its really intense. Maybe I will try it again but do it before the longer run. Snack: 8oz Juice 23g Protein Shake Thanks Dent! ![]() Hopefully this will keep me motivated through the tough times. |

Dinner: Steak and White Rice 12oz Juice Snack: Vanilla Ice Cream with Caramel Syrup ![]() I hope I'll get to say that one day Dent ![]() Edit: I'm just thinking how much I love combat sports right now lol, I like to dream big so I guess I have clock in those hours. Whatever I do I've always know I want to be successful but not good living, middle-class w/ a family. I've always wanted more, so I worry about crap like college, grades, etc. I hope this will serve to motivate me in my studies as well. I emailed Penn State asking about their Collegiate boxing program. They're a good school and have what seems to be a nice campus atmosphere. More importantly, they're part of the NCBA, National Collegiate Boxing Association. So if I were to go there I could easily combine studies and boxing. If not I could always find a gym outside of the school that I would attend. |
