UWC 57: Villegas vs. Zapien was a mixed martial arts event promoted by Ultimate Warrior Challenge Mexico and would have taken place on June 29, 2025 at the Auditorio Municipal de Tijuana in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico but was cancelled due to change of venue. The UWC 57 event featured seven professional mixed martial arts (MMA) bouts, and the plan is to keep as many of those fights as possible for the next scheduled date. "We believe it's best to announce the date change now and not risk bringing the event closer and then not holding it. We understand the effects this change could have on the fighters' camps. "We hope to have the new date soon, as the plan is to present a show in a venue where AMM performances have never been held before. We're sure it will be worth the wait," said Alejandro Islas. The president of UWC indicated that the objective is to continue with the main event being Miguel “Destroyer” Villegas (11-3-0), of Kings MMA, from Los Mochis, Sinaloa, against Christian “Ippo” Zapien (5-3-0), of Casa Chimeyo, from Naucalpan de Juarez, State of Mexico. “We remain the leading MMA promoter in Mexico. More than 20 of our fighters have made the jump to the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship), as well as other international companies. “We discussed the date change with UFC Fight Pass, and they approved the modification because they were interested in the potential new location for UWC 57, which we hope will be successful enough to allow for two events this summer,” he added. The Tijuana Boxing and MMA Commission has been notified of the change in date and venue, and an official announcement will be made soon, although it is certain that it will not be held in June due to logistical reasons. “We know our fans were very excited about the UWC 57 program, as it features seven very good fights, and we're going to do everything we can to keep them on the program for the new date. "We still hope that both the public and the fighters understand the need for this modification at UWC 57. We always deliver on projects, but this time it's something beyond our control," Islas emphasized. UWC will soon announce the new date and location, which will make history in Baja California MMA with the support of UFC Fight Pass and municipal and state government authorities. |
